LAGUNA SECA RACEWAY FUND
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(Q) What is the purpose of the Laguna Seca Raceway Fund?
(A) The LSR Fund was established as a 501.3C Corporation with the objective of raising funds to finance future improvements to the Laguna Seca Raceway facility.

(Q) Why is it necessary to raise money to pay for improvements?
(A) Laguna Seca Raceway was built 50 years ago by a non profit volunteer organization, SCRAMP (Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula) and has been run ever since by that same organization. At that time Laguna Seca was one of the first permanent road racing facilities in the United States. Since that time many things have changed in the racing world. Safety alone demands a huge investment and today’s spectator demands much more in the way of facilities then their predecessors. Racing is a worldwide business today and many new tracks have been built, some with government assistance, others financed by industrial concerns or sanctioning bodies. If Laguna Seca does not keep pace and invest in improvements then it will lose the world class events it became famous for.

(Q) What kind of improvements are needed?
(A) There are many. Listed here are some of the more important ones.
1. Replace the old bridge at the start finish line with a new higher capacity structure.
2. A new start finish area with flagmen podium.
3. Improved and expanded sewer systems.
4. Project to develop on site sewage treatment facilities and provide reclaimed water for irrigation.
5. Permanent restrooms located both in the paddock and at all spectator areas around
the track.
6. Many of the hillside vantage points around the track need to be terraced to provide
for better spectator facilities.
7. Replace the first areas around the track with grass once reclaimed irrigation water
is available.
8. A new media centre to be located in the paddock.
9. New concession stands located in all spectator areas around the track
